“Forever chemicals,” or PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), are a group of synthetic chemicals that don’t break down easily in the environment and can persist for a long time. They are found in various products like non-stick cookware, waterproof fabrics, and firefighting foams. Their persistence and widespread use have led to concerns about their potential health and environmental impacts.

Forever chemicals are now in our food supply chain. Knowing your farmer is really wise.

Key PFAS Manufacturers:
  • 3M: A major manufacturer of PFAS, including PFOS, and known for products like Scotchgard and firefighting foam (AFFF).
  • DuPont (now Chemours): DuPont developed and manufactured Teflon, which utilizes PFOA, a type of PFAS. Chemours was spun off from DuPont and now handles its PFAS business.
  • Chemours: As mentioned above, this company inherited DuPont’s PFAS production and continues to manufacture fluoropolymers.
  • Other notable manufacturers: Arkema, Asahi, BASF, Clariant, Daikin, and Solvay have also been involved in PFAS production.

These “Forever Chemicals” bind to proteins in our bodies building up in our systems causing all kinds of problems which results in sickness. We have to remove them from our bodies regularly.
