Fast-growing aquatic fern known for its significant role in sustainable agriculture. It forms a symbiotic relationship with the nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium Anabaena azollae, allowing it to enrich the soil naturally without the need for chemical fertilizers. Commonly used in rice paddies as a green manure, Azolla improves soil fertility and suppresses weed growth.
