Liver Flukes

Liver fluke infections in humans are treated with antiparasitic medications, most commonly triclabendazole for Fasciola species and praziquantel for Clonorchis or Opisthorchis species. Treatment typically lasts one to seven days, effectively killing the parasites and preventing further liver or bile duct damage.
ascioliasis (Fasciola hepatica/gigantica): The preferred treatment is Triclabendazole.
Triclabendazole is typically taken as a very short course to kill liver flukes, usually consisting of one or two doses (10 mg/kg) taken 12 hours apart with food.
Clonorchiasis (Clonorchis sinensis) / Opisthorchiasis: The drug of choice is Praziquantel (75 mg/kg/day, divided into three doses for 2 days). Albendazole is a possible alternative.
Ivermectin alone does not typically kill liver flukes (such as Fasciola hepatica) effectively, but it is highly effective when combined with other compounds such as Triclabendazole.
